PLAYING
Is Paintballz.io free?
Yes. Paintballz.io is free to play in your browser. Every map, mode and cash gun can be earned just by playing. Optional purchases of splats (the premium currency) and value packs help support the game, and ads are shown on paintballz.io.
Do I need to download anything or make an account?
No. Open paintballz.io and press Deploy! to play as a guest. Your progress is saved on that device. Make a free account to keep your cash, guns, accessories and level safe and to play on other devices.
How do I play?
Move with W A S D, aim with the mouse, shoot with the left mouse button and jump with Space. One paintball tags a player out. In Team Deathmatch your team wins with the most tags; in Free for All, the player with the most tags wins. New players get a short tutorial in their first match. The How to Play guide covers everything in detail.
What game modes are there?
Team Deathmatch (Blue against Red) and Free for All. Each map is built for one mode, and players vote on the next map at the end of every round, so a room can switch between modes as it goes.
How long is a round?
Public rounds last 5 minutes, with a short break for results and the map vote between rounds. In a private room you choose 3, 5, 8, 10 or 15 minutes.
How many players are in a match?
Up to 18 people per room (9 against 9 in Team Deathmatch). When there aren't enough people, bots fill the empty places, and each person who joins takes a bot's place.
Can I play with my friends?
Yes. Add friends from the social screen and form a party so you join the same match. You can also make a private room, put everyone on the teams you want and pick the round length. Friends you put on a team get an invite.
Does it work on phones and tablets?
Yes. Phones and tablets get touch controls: a joystick to move, drag to look, and buttons to fire, jump, scope, chat and use equipment. You can resize and move the buttons in Settings → Mobile. Landscape works best.
Can I change the controls?
Yes. Every key except Esc can be rebound in Settings → Keybinds, with two keys per action. Mouse and touch sensitivity are in Settings as well.
GUNS, EQUIPMENT AND PROGRESS
Does a better gun do more damage to players?
No. Every gun tags a player in one hit. Better guns land that hit more easily: faster fire, longer reach, flatter shots or better accuracy. Gun damage only matters against sentries, drones, tanks and walls.
How do I unlock new guns?
Cash guns form a ladder in the shop. Each one costs cash and unlocks once you own the one before it. The five premium guns cost 200 splats each, and one of them is on sale as Today's Deal every day. See the full gun list.
How do kill streaks work?
Pick up to four pieces of equipment in Shop → Streaks. Each one charges when your tag count in the round reaches its number: Radar at 4, Sentry at 8, Drone at 12, Wall at 14, Tank at 16 and Nuke at 90. Charges stack up to 3. Use them with Z X C V. Radar, Sentry and Drone are free; Wall, Tank and Nuke are bought once.
How do I earn cash quickly?
Tag players ($250 each, more for quick multi-tags), shoot down enemy drones and tanks ($400) and sentries and walls ($150), finish your three daily tasks ($2,000 to $8,000 each), claim level rewards and log in every day for the 7-day reward track.
What are splats and how do I get them?
Splats are the green premium currency. They buy premium guns and Premium Crates. You get them free from every 10th level, from the daily login track and from optional reward videos, or you can buy them in the store. Your first splat pack gives double splats.
How do I get hats and other accessories?
From crates. A Paint Crate costs $40,000 and a Premium Crate costs 40 splats. Every crate gives you an accessory you don't already own or a cash prize, so you never get duplicates. The exact odds are shown before you open one.
What happens to my progress if I clear my browser?
Guests are tied to a sign-in token in the browser, so clearing site data loses a guest's progress. Make a free account and your progress is kept on our servers, so you can sign back in any time, from any device.
TECHNICAL AND ACCOUNT
The game is laggy or slow. What can I do?

Any modern browser with WebGL: Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Safari and Opera, on Windows, macOS, Linux, Chromebooks, iOS and Android.

How do I report a cheater or a bug?
The anti-cheat removes players who move or shoot impossibly, and admins can ban players. To report a player or a bug, email youygan@gmail.com or post on our Discord server with the player's name, the room and what happened.
Where can I see what changed in the latest update?
Every update's patch notes are on the Updates page.
